It’s a path of transformation. It’s going into the forest, into the unknown , to experience, to wander and wonder, to investigate and ask and not always wait for the answer, it’s about feeding the fire of curiosity and let the flame be , it’s about staying alive, aware, discovering yourself, your body, your way of thinking, your emotions, the way you relate to others…. It’s about growing into the magnificent creature you really are.
This name comes from the Hindu philosophy for attaining spiritual insight and harmony, to calm the mind through body movements and breath awareness.
The word itself is derived from the Sanskrit "yok", meaning "union" or "to join", union with the self, with the source.
This philosophy / discipline applies to the development of mind and body. It increases awareness of the breathing, body alignments, healthy posture, flexibility of body and mind, calmness of spirit.
In my classes I use breathing techniques (Pranayama), classical postures (Asanas), awareness of the locks (some muscles actions called Bandhas) and the philosophy of the yoga : awareness of the effortless movement, being present, allowing energy to flow, finding the non-doing into the action (Variajya within Abiyasa)
"The techniques of “hatha” yoga (yoga of movement) help us to be more present, to observe our breath, feelings and sensations, to transform places of tightness and weakness within the body and to shift habitual patterns of movement. It’s really being conscious, aware of the different dimensions of our self -emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and physical." Shivea Rea
It's much more than just a fitness trend of the 1990's... you are stretching much more than your muscles...
It’s looking for a place within your heart to embrace the world rather than looking for a place in the world for you to be.
It’s about being and not doing, it’s about feeling, observing, about awareness, about acceptance…. about being present and letting something come up to the surface
It’s about stretching and relaxing, about respecting your intelligent edge, knowing where to stretch, where to surrender, where saying yes or no.
It’s about grace and flow, about joining the existing movement without effort
It’s about trust, trusting the natural flow of things, the circle of seasons, the sun rises and sets with natural detachment and no expectations.
"The asana (the position) is not the goal, just a vehicle, just a tool, to access deeper internal awareness, present moment observation " David Swenson
“Yoga starts when you stop fooling yourself trying to be someone else, trying to get somewhere as if you are not there already”… “truth doesn’t have to be found, truth is a given condition”. Inhale, exhale, just acknowledge the source” Marc Witwell
I believe that yoga is transmitted in friendship and trust and love. My students are my friends and teachers. I grow through my practice and through the people in my class.
